While I sat sipping coffee this morning thinking about the time I’ve spent creating Vintage Pickin’ I became overjoyed. Y’ALL. This is crazy. Sometimes it’s still so surreal that the Lord saw fit for me to carry out this amazing dream!

This year — IT’S TIME TO GET FOCUSED.

Of course, we all want to start out the new year with RESOLUTIONS…

Eat cleaner. Exercise more. Spend more time with family…etc. And while nothing is wrong with creating resolutions, this year I am creating SPECIFIC GOALS. I want to accomplish so many wonderful things this year, so instead of stating what I want to do, I am making our VERY FIRST blog post about the GOALS I have for my personal life. 

Side note: resolutions are stating that you are going to do or not doing something, goals are the object of a person’s ambition or effort

Okay, HERE WE GO!



Eat breakfast or lunch with my husband one day a week

Y’all know trying to get meaningful conversation time in with your spouse can be hard when you have kiddos. Like REALLY HARD. Especially as often as you need to and sometimes you start feeling like you don’t even know what’s going on in their life. We have struggled with this. So, we’re setting aside just 1 day a week to meet-up for breakfast or lunch to discuss financials, task lists, share stories about the kids, catch up on what’s going on and hold each other accountable for the things we are both trying to accomplish that week.


Exercise at least 2x per week

There’s always room for improvement in the health department. It’s not just about looking and feeling better. When you choose to exercise, you are investing in your health and bodies for the long haul! So, even though I feel like I never have time and put off till the next day, THERE ARE NO EXCUSES. I can find 30-45 minute twice a week somewhere!



Eating 3 home-cooked meals together

You wouldn’t think it would be hard to do this, but between ball practices, busy work schedules and other activities it has ben low on the priority list. But, this is very important to me and my family and I want to be sure we make time in our schedules every week to sit around the dinner table, eat a home cooked meal, and talk to each other.

Read 5 books

I have an attention problem. Those of you that know me personally, know this. Those of you that don’t, well you do now. I can’t remember the last time I successfully sat through a full episode of any TV show other than Fixer-Upper (and that’s even hard for me) But books…oh man. I have a love/hate relationship with reading guys…it’s so hard for me. But, I’ve been reading here lately and am getting a lot out of it. SO I’m gonna push myself through this struggle because I need to challenge myself to learn in a way that I’m not used to. Maybe I’ll do a blog post later about which 5 books I’m reading? That might actually hold me accountable!

Intentional time with each kid EVERY DAY for 20-30 minutes

Whether it’s playing video games together, playing house (I’m not the best at playing pretend y’all), snuggling, jumping on the trampoline, letting them help me cook no matter how much of a mess I have to clean up…WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO!

Developing a consistent morning routine

I’m not gonna lie, mornings tend to be rushed and crazy at our house but I really wanna get intentional about making time to sit and spend time with God first thing! So, try to get up around the same time everyday and find a quiet time and space to SIT and be STILL (this is sooo hard for me)…read a devotional/ book and of course coffee! 


Keeping a positive attitude

First let me say I am a generally a very positive person, especially with other people’s lives when they come to me for advice. But, figuring out how respond in a positive way when negative things happen isn’t easy. Especially in the heat of the moment. But, I can choose to have a positive posture throughout the day and when negative things do happen I’ll be in a position to respond well.

I may not accomplish all of these goals or stick to them consistently. Some weeks I may just fail miserably and that’s okay as long as I keep going, keep striving to make small steps everyday in the right direction. It’s all about progress not perfection. Whose life is perfect anyways? Certainly not mine!
